Ceiling or floor fans offer great savings on your electric bill as opposed to lowering the temperature setting of the air conditioner. The cost for operating a fan is much less than operating an air conditioner. Lowering the temperature setting of the air conditioner will reduce the temperature for the entire home even though only one section is too warm. Utilize a fan to cool the one area as opposed to cooling the entire home. Watch for sales on various fans that are offered in different sizes. Decide which size is best suited for your needs. The larger the fan blade diameter, the more airflow it generates.

     Place a floor fan in an area next to a computer to better control the temperature since a computer generates a lot of heat. Also, place a fan in the bedroom to cool you at night without having to lower the temperature to cool the entire home.
