Cereals should not be purchased at full price.

Cereals should not be purchased at full price because they can be found on sale and/or coupons are available on a consistent basis. A combination of the two will result in the best savings. You will then be able to purchase cereal boxes for about $2 instead of the normal about $4. Continuously stock up on the sale/coupon cereals ensuring you have an adequate supply. If you only purchase specific cereals, stock up on that cereal when on sale. Cereals on the shelf will not expire for several months, although the expiration date will be rendered invalid after opening the sealed bag. Always check the expiration date and purchase the product with the oldest date. Also, consider purchasing a non-brand name cereal. The taste and nutrition are the same as brand name products, but at a much lower cost. Although, the brand named cereals can be purchased for less when on sale and with the use of a coupon. Otherwise, if no discounts are available, then the non-brand named cereals is a great alternative.
