The best savings are to wait for a movie to appear on video or on cable so you can pay one price for several people to watch at the same time. A big disadvantage is the movie theatre offers better picture and sound quality than most home systems.

     Consider a monthly subscription service for movie rentals offered at Blockbuster®, Hollywood Video®, and even through an internet based company Netflix.com®. Determine which service is best suited for your viewing habits and which one offers the most convenience and savings.

     If you want to always view movies at the theater, consider movie times offered at discounted price. Theaters offer a discount for movies in the early morning or twilight hours, such as before 11am or between 4pm - 6pm, which are typically $2 - $3 lower than the evening adult admission. Ticket prices for afternoon shows, normally 11am - 4pm, may also be reduced typically $1 or $2. Evenings in which you will go to a dinner and see a movie, consider watching the movie first at the reduced rate, then go out to dinner. This way you will have something extra to talk about at dinner and the restaurant may be less crowded along with saving on movie prices.

     Take advantage of discounts offered for students, military, and senior citizens. Simply present the appropriate id for the discount. If the id is no longer valid, then your discount will be rejected and you will have to pay full price.

     Obtain discount tickets from clubs or discount books such as AAA® or the Entertainment Book®. Keep in mind you may not be able to use the discount tickets during the first few weeks the movie is released due to contractual agreements (a.k.a.: special engagements) between the movie theater and the movie producers. Wait until you can use them to save money.

     Ask the guest services area if they offer frequent viewer movie cards providing points every time you and a guest purchase a movie ticket. As the points increase, you will be provided vouchers for free drinks, popcorn, and you may even receive a free move ticket.
